Creative Showcase

I've noticed there are a lot of creative people on the forums, whether they like drawing or writing, or something else creative.

So I made this thread as a place for everyone to show off their work and view other people's, to ask for opinions and help, share ideas and reccomend things for other people to try!

It doesn't matter if you're qualified or just a beginner, share away


I have always been interested in art. My favorite subject is Portraiture, I just love it! I use most mediums to depict them as well.

I have been experimenting with inks and layering in my most recent work. I don't have pics of any drawings, but I did these as a layering and compositional test and I really like them. I made them using inks and tracing paper, and took photos over a lightbox.

Oooh.. I could show my JC Art Project... hmmm. But that might reveal my identity. Nah! We're all numbers to the State Exams, like we don't even matter

I'd be happy to show some of my work, but it may take a while to pictrue it - perhaps over the weekend

EDIT: it is rare that I paint. I absolutey love Colour Pencil, as it is less messy and fussy, and plus you can do a lot with it.

I love the piece you did based on your grandpa. Collaging is my fav! Did you paint the crow? Your watercolor technique is really good, too. I think that medium can be so expressive, but it's hard to control. And I'm a control freak.

I'll dig through some pics and see if I can find any of my work. I might have some of my senior thesis show around here somewhere. I'd be curious to know what you thought since I did some experimenting with inks, too.

It'll be cool to see some of your work I've used coloured pencils in the past too, I used to really love them! I'll link a piece of work later, it will be a few years old though!
I love paint because if you go wrong you can just paint over, and keep making adjustments, whereas I could never do that with coloured pencils.

Yeah I painted the crow. I plan to do a really big watercolour painting of a crow in rememberance of my Grandad, I have been putting it off until after my art coursework so I can completely focus on it.
I think watercolours are great simply because there are so many ways you can use them. Also if you do something wrong it is easy to just wash the layer of paint away or layer over the top. I am not very neat at all, and even I find it hard to smudge/ruin watercolour pictures!

I am glad the lightbox pics inspired you! I have to say it was awesome doing them. My teacher gave me the idea when I was thinking how to plan out compositions for my next exams final piece. He is an amazing art teacher, less about how good the painting looks or precision, and more about just experimenting with different things and learning new techniques, about artists, etc.

Looking forward to your ink works too. When my exam is over I will spend more time with those too and do a proper piece of artwork.

One of my fave artists of today works a lot with ink, he is very inspiring. I just love his style.

Anywho.... well today I drew my first MALE!!!! OMG. Its just a sketch for a story board which is an assignment for University.

So here is a bunch of stuff I just drew in the last hour for concepts for the story board, so this is my style of drawing XD lol sorry for the crappy quality I just took the photo right now because the scanner is on the desktop blah and yeah well...

I don't know my model either... And I'm too lazy to take a pic. But it is big and wide (that is a really good thing, you have to ge tused to it at first butafterwards you can't live without it) and then it it grey XD

YES THAT IS MY TABLET (except mine is dirtier) I got it this christmas ^^
ohhh that tablet looks neat too!
I honestly don't care which color tablet I have as long as it is not a really flashy color that will take away my focus XD And my computer table is grey too, so I think grey is nice >w<
