Major freezing issues- is this something to do with the patch?
I've been on a rather extended vacation from the sims. I'm used to my game being screwy, but now I can't play it
BEFORE I downloaded the patch, I was having some issues with crashing when I tried to edit a certain room in a new house while in buy mode. I don't know if it was a coincidence the game crashed twice while I was editing the same wall, or if it has something to do with the house specifically. Anyway, I noticed there was a new patch out and figured that might fix the issue so I downloaded it and updated all of my mods (I only have Twallan's). Now, the game consistently freezes a few seconds after I open it.
So I guess the possible issues include mod conflicts updating didn't solve, the pose player (I don't know if it counts as a mod/needs to be updated), the new house I'm playing in, or the patch.

Re: Major freezing issues- is this something to do with the patch?
I had some crashing issues after the latest patch, but not freezing. I was getting the "the sims 3 has stopped working" crash. I updated my twallan mods and it stopped. Are all your EP's added to the DEP list?
Re: Major freezing issues- is this something to do with the patch?
I think I did something like that after the Generations patch came out, but I'm not sure if I added all of my EPs to that list.I guess I'll try to hunt down a thread with those instructions.

I added everything to the DEP, and now the game crashes during loading

Are you getting any pop-ups with the crashing, and did you restart the computer after adding the games to the DEP? Not that restarting is a necessity, but it might help.
Have you cleared you games cache files?

I restarted, but I'll try clearing the cache.

Re: Major freezing issues- is this something to do with the patch?
Mine started crashing/freezing too, a few seconds into gameplay.
Now I am reinstalling everything, and hopefully that means I'll loose that patch XD
(It's the second time I reinstall and before it said I had to patch if I wanted to play, because y BG and a ep was incomp... whatever)
If not, I hope that its just a bug I got because I forgot to move my CC and mods out of the folder while patching
I hope it works...

Try taking a look at this:
http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/478306.page
apparently the crashing may have something to do with the in-game store advertisements. Follow crincrit's directions to make your folder "Featured Items", which can be found here: documents>EA>the sims 3>featured Items, permission to "write" to deny.
Crincrict's "TUTORIAL: Turning off ingame Store and preventing loading of pictures": http://crinrict-help.blogspot.com/2011/12/tutorial-turning-off-ingame-store-and.html
The featured item folder adds a lot of memory to your game, and could be causing it to crash/freezem but supposedly if you change the permission of that folder from allowing "Writing" to deny, it may help...or maybe even stop it all together.

Re: Major freezing issues- is this something to do with the patch?
oh that looks intresting. Well it seems like my game finally isn't patched to 1.29, so now I'm gonna try to play my game again, without taking risks of patching right now.
But I'll keep this in mind if I decide to patch again.
Now I am going to test my game and see if it worked

Re: Major freezing issues- is this something to do with the patch?
Aw... When I put back my save files, cc and mods etc. it started saying I had to update my basegame again...
Do you think it could have serious effects on my game if I don't patch? Because I really don't want to patch -__-
Edit: Btw it says my game is up to date in the background, but thats only because it takes a while for it to how the 1.29 patch and such and I did not feel patient enough to wait for that
Edit, again: And when I remove all my stuff, it doesn't come up with that message again... I'm gonna look through my folders, it must be those there is something wrong with.
Edit, again, again: Yeah, I cleaned up in my folders and now it isn't complaining more... NOW I'm off to test my game
Edit, once again: Wth, it wasn't the patch, because it still crashes :C

Re: Major freezing issues- is this something to do with the patch?
I fixed the crashing by doing a combination of things on crincrit's blog- I think I had added too many files to my DEP, so that probably was the issue. The freezing seems to be because the lot is corrupted, but I haven't had time to delete it yet.
Bimle, I'll find you a link to crincrit's blog where he has a page on what to do if your game keeps crashing.

crinrict is a "she". I've made that mistake too, and she corrected me once. I don't know why, but I always assumed crinrict was a he as well.
Re: Major freezing issues- is this something to do with the patch?
Haha, it must be the avatar. They can be confusing. Crinrict's looks like a little boy with a bowl cut

Re: Major freezing issues- is this something to do with the patch?
thanks dancingk8
But I need alittle help with some of the steps:
Bypass the launcher and start the game through the ts3w.exe
Dont I have to use the pets one? (ts3ep05?)
If you have only DirectX 10 or 11 on your system, try installing DirectX 9 as well
I don't really know what it is or where to find it...
Defective hardware
huh? c:
clean out your computer (especially the ventilator)
Isn't that removing your computer from your screen, keyboard, mouse, etc. and split it up (or something) and dust it off?
insufficient hardware
